On Aug. 25th Mike left for boot camp. I drove him up to Lansing to a hotel, he stayed the night there. Waking up at 4 am the next morning Mike went through a shortened version of MEPS and 'The Moment of Truth'. I got a call from him around 5 pm that said he would be getting on the bus soon to travel to Great Lakes. This is where he will have his training. Mike will go through a couple days of processing (hair cuts, uniforms, etc.) He'll graduate in 8 weeks, which will be around the end of October. The only contact with the outside world that Mike will get will be through snail mail. Phone calls will be limited and I'm assuming short, he'll have to earn these.
One day finished for me! I can't wait to get my letter and talk to him soon.
