Alas, it was only a cat! Oops!

I just saw Julie & Julia tonight and it inspired me to write in the blog again, however it didn't inspire me to the topic. The blog has been neglected, sadly. I was reminded by my Dad that I had yet to write anything new. I had forgotten that it's been since Memorial Day that I'd written. I'm not much of a writer though.

So, I will default to writing what's been going on the past month and see where that takes me!

At the beginning of July much of my time was consummed with making sure that everything was in place for camp. For weeks people would ask me if I was ready. My responses varied between, 'as ready as I'll ever be' to 'nope!' Camp is one of those things that you can plan, but know that it'll never go exactly as that perfect plan. And as it turned out, it didn't all go according to plan. It only rained one night, and we didn't get any thunderstorms--a first in camp history!

Funny story about camp! One night Sarah and I were doing a 'night watch' walk through the camp after lights out. One our way back down the hill we were looking out for the frequently visiting skunk. We saw a critter run from towards the RV park (where we were going). In an effort to get a better look we climbed onto a kid's playground thingy with monkey bars, slide and swing, whatever those are called. But, we lost sight of the critter. A few minutes later, another girl came walking out. We called out to her that the skunk was by her tent, so she joined us. Now, we're stranded up on a rickety platform about 8 feet in the air and scared that the skunk is where we need to go. I called Mike on his cell phone and asked him to come out and look for us. What did he find? Not the skunk! Alas it was only a cat! Oops!

Since camp has been over, I have enjoyed not having deadlines to meet. I'm getting to enjoy a short summer break. Classes begin in 3 weeks and I'll be busy again. Until then, I'm definately enjoying being lazy!

Until next time, my small audience...
