Mike has successfully made it to Gulport, Mississippi for his A-School. If everything goes according to plan, he will return to Kalamazoo on January 28th. Life after boot camp is very different for both of us. I cannot speak for Mike, but for me this is much better. Sent with his laptop, a webcam, cell phone and iPod Mike hopped on a plane and headed south. A-School allows us to have much more contact with each other. We are able to talk with each other for about an hour each night, and sometimes during his lunch breaks.
So, what do you talk about when you haven't talked for 9 weeks? Good question! We are still searching for that answer. Mike and I are really good friends and easily find something to talk or text about. Topics range from what that military acronym means to his roommate from Kansas, the latest at the Library to Dixie, our classes and of course how much we are missed. We talk about the upcoming holidays and coordinating trips. However much fun it is to talk to each other it is equally as hard to say goodbye. Saying goodbye to Mike is something that I have found to be very difficult; he has become an important staple in my life. And, quite frankly, our latest goodbyes have not held very many face-to-face hellos. I am often quite upset after ending a conversation with him, but I must patiently wait until the next moment that we are able to talk.
