I have officially missed the last three phone calls Mike was able to make. The first one he was still in Lansing at a pay phone. The second call was the phone call all recruits get to try to contact Mom and Dad. The third one was this past week when he got a 10 minute phone call as a reward for passing a written test. I left my phone on the couch to make a run to the Post Office to get more stamps to send his daily letter and missed his call. He sounded very sick; he has a cold. Mike said that the food is just "okay" and very repeatitive. He's tired of boot camp and ready to come home. He got a little choked up at the end of the voicemail that he left me.
Later that afternoon, I got a phone call from his mother. He was able to talk to them for his phone call. It was nice to know that he was able to talk to some family. It was hard to realize that I missed my chance to talk to him. I wish that I could've heard all that information myself and been able to talk to him.
